Congratulation to all of us for active participitation in discussing the related topic. All of us give very good comment and opinion to share together.
For me,floods are the common hazards in Malaysia. It happend anytime andanywhere especially during rainy season. However some floods develop slowly, sometimes over a period of day.If flash floods,it can develop quickly, just few minutes and without any visible sign of rain.It always happend at Kuala Lumpur.
The common flood-related disease have been point in the article like infectious disease such as gastrointestinal disease, dermatits, conjuctivitis, leptospirosis and vector-borne disease such as dengue and malaria.
Other flood-related disease which not mention in the article such as Dysentry,Influenze and Chlorea.Dysentry is an inflammation of the bowels by bacteria such as Escherichia Coli causing a severe diarrhea.Other type of bacteria like Shigella and Ameba Entamoeba also causing a severe diarrhea.Diarrhea spread by germs from feaces entering the mouth. The germs can be spread by dirty enviroment like dirt utensil.Another flood-related disease is mold infection by fungi.Mold spore grow in a moist enviroment that contents organic matter.
Prevntion is the best way to curb the disease.Be aware of flood hazards no matter where you live, especially if you live ia a low-lying are near water or downstream from a dam.Routine sanitary procedures are essential dor disease prevention.Hands must be washed with soap after toilet use, after participating in flood clean up activities and after handling contaminated with flood water or sewage.Children not be allowed to play in flooded area.Water must be boiled before preparing or eating food. From Public Health must interventions to conduct assessment to determine the status of public health infrastructure,utilities(e.g. water, sewage and electricity) and health, medical and pharmaceutical needs.Must educate public regarding proper sanitation and good hygine.Organize delivery of health care services and suppliesand continuity of care.
