When flood occurs many people being moved from their homes to over crowded designated flood relief centers where usually there not enough supply of clean water and foods. The most common flood-related disease occurs in this centre is related to gastrointestinal diseases with symptoms of fever, stomach ache, vomiting and diarrhea. This diseases usually due to contaminated of water supply and food from poor hygiene with bacteria like Vibrio cholerae, Eshericheria coli and Salmonella typhi . Other common diseases are conjunctivitis, dermatitis and leptospirosis due to contaminated of flood water due to overflow of toxic wastes sites. For the cases of a vector-borne diseases such as dengue and malaria only arise after the flood decline because the mosquito start to breed in the staged water . Other common flood-related diseases which always occur in the designated flood relief centre that are not being mentioned in this article are cough, sore-throat and flu. These diseases usually related to the damp whether with overcrowded peoples and poor ventilation where the virus easily can be spread by sneezing. Other diseases related to viruses are Hepatitis A due to contaminated food and water supply. We also must remember that during this disaster especially old people with chronic diseases such as diabetes, heart problem, hypertension, asthma, their conditions become worst because no proper treatment because during rescue time to save their life is more important than their medicine .Since the most common flood-related disease infect the gastrointestinal areas the best way to curb this diseases during and after the disaster is to make sure to use clean water when handling and preparing the food , drink bottle water or cooked water and make sure seek for the early treatment when there is a symptoms such as stomach ache and vomiting in you, your family or your community.
